Cleaning My Stone?

Why Your Stone Needs A Non-Acidic Stone-Cleaner

Cleaners will employ one of three cleaning formula types – acidic, solvent or surfactant.  Most cleaners are acidic or solvent based.

Acids operate by chemically bonding or interacting with dirt or the stone, tile or grout surfaces.  Acid can dissolve CaCO3 which is the primary chemical ingredient in your marble, limestone, travertine, sulturnia or terrazzo stone surfaces.  This effectively creates micro pitting on the surface, eliminating the flat reflective surface.  This pitted surface scatters light, reducing its ability to reflect properly, and giving a dull appearance.

Acids can also dissolve pigment and dyes.  When applied to colored grout, they can literally bleach or remove the color from your grout.

Vinegar and Bleach are acidic, as are CLR and most off the shelf floor, glass and metal cleaning products.

MARBELIFE Marble & Granite Cleaner - Intercare is a pH neutral stone cleaner formulated to not only clean stone, tile and grout but also glass and metal. This allows one to clean all surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom without introducing an acidic cleaner that can dull or damage your surfaces.

MARBLELIFE Marble & Granite Cleaner - Intercare is a novel surfactant based cleanser, designed to isolate acids and oils surround them and drop them out of solution.  Called Intercare - or between service cleaning.  This novel formulation offers several unique benefits including the ability to neutralize acidic spills without using a base.  This enables one to clean up fruit juice and other acidic spills before they can etch a natural stone floor.  When mopping Intercare separates the dirt from your mop and drops it out of solution.  This keeps you mop water cleaner longer, dropping the dirt to the bottom of the mop bucket and reducing the chance of being re-applied back out on your floor.

MARBLELIFE Intercare is provided in two forms:

  • MARBLELIFE Ready-To-Use Intercare Cleanser - Available in a easy-to-use spray formulation in a 32 oz spray bottle.  Convenient to maintain close at hand to clean-up kitchen spills, or bar rings.  Safe for daily cleaning.
  • MARBLELIFE Intercare Concentrate Cleaner - Also available in a concentrate let down as 2 oz concentrate in 1 gallon of water.  Ideal for cleaning floors, or refilling your Ready-To-Use Intercare Cleaner.  Safe for daily cleaning - beautiful results and easy to secure.

Have to clean soap and scum from your marble shower?  MARBLELIFE Soap & Scum remover is what you are seeking - engineered to safely remove soap and scum without scratching or etching or marble or granite.

Have spots or rings on your marble?  Spots and rings that keep coming back despite your efforts to clean them are likely not dirt, but etches.  Etches occur when acid dissolves the stone itself, effectively disrupting to the stone's ability to reflect light cleanly.  The micro pits created by the acid roughens what was a mirror smooth surface to begin with.  Light etches (seen but not felt) can be corrected at home using MARBLELIFE Gold Plus Gloss Restorer.  If you can feel them you are going to need a professional stone craftsman.  Enter your zip code and find your lcoal MARBLELIFE office.
